Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions we get most often.

Which product categories can I order from you?

Seven categories: desk pads (desk mats, full-desk mats, laptop and keyboard pads), mouse pads, promotional and event gadgets (coasters, QR-code mats, custom shapes), gaming products (board and card game mats, battle mats, dice trays, token holders, 2D terrain), RPG and hobby, OEM and private label, and special applications. If an idea doesn't fit any category - those are usually the most interesting jobs.

Can you make a pad in any shape?

Yes - we cut with a laser, so the shape is limited only by geometry, not by a tool. We have made pads shaped like a guitar, a heart, a butterfly and the outline of a map, among others. A laser-cut edge does not fray, so it needs no additional finishing - the same solution the publisher Ornament Games described as durable after many print runs.

How much does preparing a custom shape cost?

Nothing - we charge no cutting-die fee, because we don't use one. That is a real cost difference: making a bookbinding die or a punch is a one-off expense of several to several tens of thousands of złoty, worthwhile only at runs in the thousands. Laser cutting needs no tool, so a shape in the form of a heart, a logo or a board outline is available from just a few dozen pieces - and you can change it from one series to the next without incurring the cost again.

Do you print double-sided?

Yes, and we do it as standard on most materials - which is rare on the market. Double-sided printing gives two products in one: a game mat with two boards, a desk mat with a calendar on one side and graphics on the other, a coaster with a logo and product information. For event gadgets it is often a way to fit content that won't fit on one side.

What sizes are possible?

From a coaster to a mat for a whole conference table. In the gaming category we have over 50 ready-made battle designs in sizes from 30×22″ to 72×48″. A non-standard format is not a problem - we don't work from rigid templates, so we match the dimension to the product, not the product to the dimension.

How do custom products differ from your retail shops?

Netfire Group is custom production for businesses - we design and make the product to your brief. If you are looking for ready-made, off-the-shelf mats, we run two retail brands: playmats.eu in English and playmaty.pl in Polish. The same production line, two purchasing models.

What gaming products do you make?

Board and card game mats, battle mats, dice trays, token holders and 2D terrain. We have over 50 ready-made battle designs in sizes from 30×22″ to 72×48″ - you can use them or supply your own artwork.

Can you produce a mat shaped like my game board?

Yes - we laser-cut the mat outline from your file, in any shape, including irregular ones. For the publisher Ornament Games we made playmats for the game “Chrono Fall” with a custom outline matched to the title's identity, on 2 mm natural rubber, with a laser-cut edge. We have also produced round mats, including for the game Evacuation.

Which material should I choose for a game mat?

2 mm natural rubber is the default choice: 2 mm is the thickness at which cards are easy to pick up from the surface, the mat lies flat and stable, and it can still be rolled up without weighing too much to ship. Eco-leather is an alternative option with a character of its own - different to the touch, flexible and waterproof, chosen by publishers of titles such as Europa Universalis or Hannibal & Hamilcar. For RPG games and products you write on, the right material is dry-erase PVC.

What does producing mats for a crowdfunding campaign look like?

We produce the quantity that matches actual orders, not a minimum container batch - which removes stock risk from the campaign. We can also agree the reprint price in advance, letting you safely start distributing the mat right after the core backer pledges go out, without the risk that follow-up sales turn out unprofitable. Before the campaign we make a prototype for visuals and trade fairs, and once the funding closes we launch production for the confirmed number of orders.

What if the series sells out?

Express reprints, including small batches, are standard with us. Because there is no cutting-die cost and no container minimum, a reprint of 80 pieces is technically and economically feasible. With importing, the same scenario means another full cycle: production in China, several weeks of sea freight and a full minimum run.

Are the mats compatible with specific titles?

Yes - we have produced mats for titles such as Evacuation, Europa Universalis, Mindbug and Hannibal & Hamilcar. Compatibility here means a matched dimension, field layout and board shape. If you are working on a title not on the list, all we need is a file with the board or its dimensions.

Do you make dice trays and accessories?

Yes. Durable snap fasteners turn a flat mat into a dice tray or a practical container - the product ships flat and the user assembles it themselves, which significantly lowers shipping cost. We also make token holders, 2D terrain and collectible dice-tray design series.

What are dry-erase RPG mats?

They are dry-erase PVC mats you can write on and wipe clean endlessly. The material is very durable and waterproof, so a map drawn with a marker during a session disappears without a trace. In practice it replaces single-use map printouts and lets the game master improvise mid-session.

Do you produce RPG map books?

Yes - we make books with ready RPG maps, including a dry-erase version. It is a product for publishers and hobby shops: a set of maps in a bound form, ready for retail sale. It can be combined with a dice tray into a single campaign starter pack.

Can dice trays be a collectible series?

Yes - we also produce dice trays as collectible design series. Because each design is a graphic file rather than a separate tool, a series of 6-12 variants generates no additional tooling cost. It is a model that works well in hobby retail: the customer buys the first tray and then completes the series.

What sizes of RPG maps and mats are most used?

The most frequently ordered formats are 50×50 cm and 80×80 cm for session mats and 30×30 cm for location maps, though for locations we rather recommend 50×50 cm - it gives more room for miniatures and markers. In the battle category we offer sizes from 30×22″ to 72×48″. The grid, square or hexagonal, is part of the print, so we match its scale to the system you play.

Can a dry-erase mat carry fixed printed graphics?

Yes - the dry-erase coating is a finish applied over the printed material, so fixed graphics (a map, grid, frame, logo) stay underneath while the marker wipes off the top. This lets you combine a ready location map with the ability to mark character positions.
